Best Practices

Compliance with Established Forensic Psychological Detection of Deception Guidelines

    Testing Procedures
  • Our instruments are of the best quality, well maintained and calibrated prior to each examination. We currently use Lafayette products, a leader in the polygraph field.
  • Each examinee will be checked to determine their physical and mental ability to undergo the testing procedure. The subject's medical history will be reviewed to determine if there are any underlying medical conditions, which may affect the examination.
  • Each examinee must voluntarily agree to undergo an examination.
  • In order to provide an examination that will accurately reflect the truth regarding a specific incident or event, case details and the examinees background must be discussed in detail in order for suitable questions to be developed for the examination.
  • The questions will be reviewed with the subject and must be agreed upon prior to undergoing the physiological monitoring portion of the examination.
  • The instrument will be explained, to include each component and what they monitor.
  • The testing procedure will be explained from start to finish and the examinee will be given an opportunity to ask any questions or make any concerns known to the examiner prior to the physiological monitoring.
  • An adequate number of charts will be obtained and reviewed in order for an opinion to be rendered as to whether or not the subject was deceptive when answering the questions posed.
  • The examinee will be provided with an opportunity to explain any reasons they may have for any results obtained.

  • Compliance with FCRA Rules and Regulations

  • Adherence to all of the regulations controlling information gathering and its permissible use is more important than ever. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is the source of many of the regulations that guide investigations. This is an evolving area and it is critical that the most current information be identified, guidelines, case law and opinions must be strictly followed to avoid litigation. We must ensure the information gathered for our clients will not expose anyone to possible litigation. We will advise our clients on the current accepted practices.
